About me

Hi, I’m Dilara, a Turkish fashion lover with a background in design, textiles, and making things by hand. I studied Fashion and Textile Design at Izmir University of Economics with a full scholarship. In my last year, I joined an Erasmus exchange in the Netherlands at Saxion University, where I learned more about textile tech, marketing, and the business side of fashion.
Over the years, I’ve worked in different roles like stylist, brand assistant, and junior designer. Each one taught me something new and helped me grow in the fashion world.
Right now, I’m looking for new work opportunities in the fashion industry where I can keep learning and creating.
I also run Merak’i, my own brand of handmade bags. You can check it out here. In my free time, I love crocheting, cooking with friends, and traveling to at least two new places each year.
Hi, I’m Dilara!
I’m a fashion designer with around five years of experience in womenswear design and product development.
I moved to the Netherlands to study Fashion & Textile Design at Saxion University of Applied Sciences and decided to continue building my career here after graduating.
Over the years, I have worked across different areas of fashion, from womenswear design and product development to styling, branding and content creation. I used to work at L. Ten Cate, where I was responsible for private label and beach collection design and development. Before that, I worked for a womenswear company as a Designer and Product Developer, where I was involved in the full process from trend research, moodboards and fabric sourcing to supplier communication and production.
I enjoy the whole journey of creating a product: searching for inspiration, developing an idea, playing with colors and materials, sketching, and seeing it eventually become a real product.
For me, inspiration can come from anywhere. It can be fashion, art, music, architecture, people, or simply a color or detail I notice somewhere. I like exploring different ideas and bringing my own perspective into what I design.
Besides my professional experience, I also have my own recycled crochet bag brand, Merak'i and design accessories such as bag charms. It gives me another space to experiment, create freely and turn my ideas into products.
